Call me Crazy..... Lady Grey Round 2

Is anyone participating in Gertie's Lady Grey Sew-A-Long?

I am!

Go to http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/search/label/Lady%20Grey%20Sew-Along if you're interested in having a look.

Gertie will be posting tutorials, vlogs etc to help her devoted readers in this sew-a-long.

I am planning in making it for spring/summer temperatures, maybe in a light cotton cord, possibly in a purple or a green. Something like this from Tessuti?

What do you think? The only thing I'm wary of is that green will not go with the reds in my wardrobe. Would purple be better?

What do you think about spots for coat fabric? Would it work better with a block colour?

And how about cord? Do you think a cotton drill or something else would be better?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

  1. I've joined and I'm also going for a polka dot print on my coat. I'm gearing toward a winter weight fabric, but for a lightweight coat, I think cord or twill is ideal! :)

  2. Ooh, I was just thinking a nice, soft needle cord when I read 'how about cord'? It would maintain the structure of those collars extremely well.

  3. That fabric is nice! I guess purple is better color. I would like to participate but perhaps I'm gonna use another pattern because it's kind of expensive for me to buy it (live in Mexico) or perhpas I'll try to do the patter myself =)

I'm not sewing along but I'll be reading to learn more about tailoring. I bet the information will be fantastic!

  5. Wasn't it your husband that made the first one anyway ?!

Go the green, purple is too close to your navy one.

I'm scared of this pattern although all the completed ones look fabulous.

  6. Great to know there are others out there partaking!

Sarah - can't wait to see yours! Polka dots will be fantastic.

I think the green will stand out more, but purple will go with more.

Tasia - I agree - I think the info will be brilliant!

Lore - ha! Michael is going to love that you see LG as being made entirely by him. But to set the story straight, it was a joint effort. I did the machine stitching, he did the pattern tracing, cutting, pinning interfacing, hand stitching, button sewing, stud sewing .......

Hmm, maybe I should leave all the praise for him!!
